Earl is a very calm, quiet, and loving dog. He has been fostered with senior dogs who brought out his mellow side. This particular puppy's unusually calm mature personality would make him perfect for a quieter home looking for a more relaxed dog. He still has a spunky side, likes to play, and he loves toys. He rarely barks, isn't afraid of thunder storms but will comfort YOU. He is a very good eater and cleans his bowl every time.

He loves a good bath, to be groomed, massaged & especially be told how handsome & wonderful he is. Admiring himself in the mirror is one of his favorite pastimes; he is definitely not lacking in self-esteem. Earl is just learning to walk on a leash but does not resist it. He is still working on potty training. Earl is a smart little guy who wants to please, yet does not want learning to get in the way of his playful spirit. His favorite training treat & reward is a tiny little meatball of Braunschweiger.

Earl is a real character- in the nicest sense of the word. He is loving & gentle and enjoys snuggling & cuddles. If you let him sleep in bed with you, he likes to spoon and he does make the perfect little spoon! He is a 9 lb bundle of love. Earl likes to stick close, to be your little helper, but he is not a dog that is constantly underfoot. He will surprise you with the funniest expressions on his sweet little face and those big beautiful eyes can flash you a dirty look that will melt your heart and make you laugh out loud.

Earl is just about perfect...so what's not to love? Well... just put him in a crate and close the door - you will see & HEAR him tell you in no uncertain terms, this is NOT acceptable. He loves to go into his crate and just contemplate life, but once the door closes...his dark side comes out. To put it nicely, he has incredible lungs and a determination that is admirable. For this reason he would be best suited for someone in a home, rather than an apartment or condo. Perhaps someone that works from home so he is not crated or left alone for the whole day - or someone can take him to work.

He loves to be around people. He does not chew on shoes or furniture, but he is a champion paper shredder! The more precious the document the finer the shred. Whoever Earl picks to spend the rest of his life with (lucky you!) will have one of those pets that is so extra special - he will set the standard high for any pet you’ve had before or any future ones.  Earl is one of a kind! If you’d like to meet this special guy, plan to say hi at an upcoming adoption event or contact us to schedule a private meeting.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.          We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.

Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application.

We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
