Hans has made a name for himself here at Underdog Rescue thanks to his very good manners. It’s something that comes up frequently from his foster family! Hans is also known for his athleticism. You might not expect it in a dog of 15lbs, but he is quite athletic. He’s a happy, sweet, curious, and energetic doggo. He likes to get lots of attention from his people and would do great as a jogging or running buddy. Hans is smart and could probably master obedience or agility training. He could be a Frisbee champ! He’s happy to snuggle up once his energy is spent.

Hans is not shy about letting you know when he’d like pets. He’ll come up and sit quietly while you pet him then will head to his bed for quiet time when you’re ready to do something else. Hans is crate trained and will sleep there without a peep, overnight. Hans is house trained and such a smart boy. He already knows the command ‘sit’. Hans enjoys exercise and does very well on a leash for walks. Hans likes toys that make a noise; especially the ones that sound like crinkly paper. His favorite treat is cheese. He does bark when being let out of the kennel as he’s just excited to get out.

Although he doesn’t require another dog in his home, Hans is a social guy who likes company. He would thrive in a household where his people are frequently available or that he has a fur-sibling or even play dates with your friends and dog parks. Hans is the sweetest boy and loves to sit with and be pet by his people. He will follow you everywhere and always wants to be near you. He is confident and curious about everyone and everything!

Keep an eye out for Hans at an upcoming adoption event or contact us to schedule a private meeting with him.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
