Who is friendly, loving, energetic, and loyal? That would be Ralph. His foster family calls him Kody and he has been responding to that name as well.  He walked into his foster home and made himself right at home. He jumped up on the couch and cuddled. He loves affection and listens to commands; he is very smart. Case in point, he learned sit after hearing it two times. He’s also learning a command for ‘outside’ and ‘go potty’. He’s even learned to take treats gently.

He enjoys running and playing outside, being by his humans, any treats, and squeaker toys. He occasionally walks on a leash and is doing well. When on a good schedule, he is nearly house trained. His foster family watches for signs too and takes him out with no accidents. He has not spent time in a crate yet. When his foster family is gone, he is in a gated area.  He can become fearful of loud noises, overwhelming commotion, or a man in a hat or black coat. He’s a quiet boy too and will bark when alarmed or at strangers outside of his foster home.

He prefers humans over other dogs. He follows his people all around the house or yard. Oh, and he LOVES to sleep and snuggle in bed with his humans! He does well with larger dogs only. He gets along with the older female Boxer in his foster home but not with the male Shih Tzu. He has had some aggression issues early on with smaller dogs - both were males. He is not dependent on other dogs; he is very independent and much more attached to humans.

Ralph is a wonderful boy that would make a great pet. His sweet brown eyes and long eye lashes will win over your heart! He’s a beautiful dog waiting to find a place to call his very own.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
