This sweetheart is Nightingale. She’s a jovial girl with a lot of love to give. She’s a spunky 19lb character who is curious about you and her surroundings. She will stop for every person on a walk in hopes that she'll get a pet. Head scratches are always welcome. She’ll be a great snuggle bug and will definitely want to be in the same bed with you.
She's very treat motivated, so you can train her to do more than ‘sit’ but it might take some patience. Peanut butter and training treats are the bees knees. She has a wonderful demeanor, but doesn't listen well when she's not supposed to do something for her safety/behavior. She won't pay attention to a stern 'no, bad'; however, that being said, she has no destructive tendencies besides trying to get to you at the door when you leave (if you don't kennel her).
She is just learning about toys and is not interested in bones or bully sticks. She absolutely loves walks and adventures. She will do well with long walks. She loves the stimulation. She’s even been to some breweries. If it's a long distance, having a K9 pack is ideal when you take her to places.
Nightingale is potty trained but barks in the crate. She's going to bark when you are gone. She does have separation anxiety even without the kennel as she doesn't like being left alone. She will cry at the door or in her kennel for 10 minutes or so. She does calm down and if it is a quiet place, she will be calm for the rest of your working day. She also barks when she’s excited for a walk or when you’re in another room and she can’t get to you. Don’t try to go to bed without her either- she’ll let you know.
She does well with all friendly dogs but so far has done well as an only dog. She's got a bacterial infection in her eye and is being treated with an antibiotic eye gel. Pugs, in general, have eye problems and that'll have to be monitored.
If you want a dog who will love you to pieces, Nightingale is your gal. She'll be the greatest lap dog. She also has some spunk and quirkiness to her. She’ll thrive in a home where she’ll get lots of walks and proper exercise too. Plan to come out to meet her today.
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
