Hello there, I'm Ida! Let me just crawl into your lap and I'll tell you all about myself.

I LOVE people. It doesn't matter if they're big or small, young or old. If you give me attention, you're my new best friend! I am also an outstanding hugger - you'd never know I'm almost 90 pounds when I slowly eek my way up for a hug. I really, really just love to let you know that I love you. So much.

I've been introduced to dogs of all sizes and temperaments and I've done great with all of them. One of them keeps trying to steal my goodies from me, and I grump at him like a cranky old lady. Foster mom tells us both to quit and to behave, but then I hear her when she walks into the next room giggling at how much of a grumpy old man I sound like. I have a lot to say, okay? I have an opinion on everything and I'll say what I have to say about it. Foster mom thinks it's hilarious. I have an opinion on that, too.

Even though I'm a very opinionated lady, I am really laid back. I am down to do whatever you want to do - whether that be eating, lounging on the couch, going for a walk, "helping" you pick up around the house, or eating. Did I mention eating?

So listen, I’ve had a couple of cancerous mammary tumors removed. I’m happy to report that it went very well with a promising outcome.  The vet also did x-rays and they said it hadn't metastasized, which is fantastic!  My new family should plan on rechecking with more x-rays every 6 months or so to make sure it is still clear. I’m a survivor and I’ve got this licked.

I’m just an awesome gal, and I've heard being 6 years old is the new 2. I'm ready for my next adventure, whether that be as your only companion or as part of your pack!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
