Geisha is the happiest girl you could possibly find. When she's extra happy, she'll show you by spinning in circles, wagging her tail extra hard, and showing you her adorable floppy tongue. Sometimes when you're lucky, she will sing you an adorable Japanese Chin song, which she thinks is a fierce howl, but her humans say it is a very muted song. She rarely barks and loves to be wherever her humans are, often sitting right at their feet when they're on the couch. You wouldn't know she's nine years old because she's filled with happy, spunky energy, but she's also happy to snooze on the couch after moving the blankets around so they are juuuuust right. She loves to go on walks and will sometimes even jog with her human! She can get a little distracted by interesting smells along the way, but don't we all?

Geisha is a champion extrovert and gets along with everyone she meets, both human and dog. She does well with the small 2 year old neighbor human next door and gets so excited to see her that sometimes she needs a little help staying calm enough so the tiny human can pet her. With other dogs, she is extra good at sharing, even with treats like a bully stick!  Potty training has been a bit of a challenge. Geisha will sometimes use potty pads inside but not consistently and still has accidents inside.

Geisha is a champion eater, and she definitely loves her fruits and veggies. Brussel sprouts and carrots are some of her favorites! She is very motivated by treats and loves chewing on the occasional duck foot. She isn't too interested in toys just yet, but sometimes she takes a toy in her mouth and shakes it around for a few seconds...so even old dogs can learn new tricks!

Without even trying, Geisha improves your mood and makes the world seem a little brighter. She is truly the happiest little girl that would love to show you her spunk and joyful personality!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
