Nelson is a very special boy. He’s only 5lbs, but has so much love to give. He’s great with all the humans in his foster home. He especially loves his foster siblings who are 4 and 8 years old. He’s always full of kisses for them and shows them his excitement by wagging his tail uber fast! He’s affectionate and very responsive to human snuggles. It’s no question that his favorite things to do are to nap and snuggle with his humans.
Nelson is also great with animals of all sizes! He’s currently living with a large Shepard male, Chi-Pug mix female, cat, and 3 guinea pigs. He took interest in checking out the piggies and seems to not care when the other pups want to sniff and get to know him. Nelson will do well in a home with other animals or by himself.
Nelson is still learning a lot about being a house dog and is timid about exploring the big world outside of his humans’ laps. He just wants to be near his humans! When he’s in the crate, he voices his displeasure when he’s away from them. He travels well in a crate but will need additional crate training. He needs a loving home with humans who will patiently coax him out of his shell, so he can learn how to find his true Chi voice.
He will need some additional training with going potty outside and being on a leash. Currently, he does a great job going potty on a potty pad on a schedule and hasn’t had any accidents. He needs more practice on a leash and his foster parents are working on leash training. Nelson doesn’t necessarily need a fenced yard if his leash training is continued.
He’s such a sweet boy and with the perfect home and some confidence building, he is going to make one special family so happy!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
