Say hello to Kimball. He’s a 1 year old, 13lb  Shih Tzu. He’s a roly-poly laid back chubby dude. He's quiet at home (never barks) and is starting to learn the ropes from another dog. He likes chewing on bones and carrying his blanket around. Sometimes he picks up random objects but then doesn’t really know what to do with them, so he drops them. These objects are: a remote control, puppy pads, and socks. He's a sweet and social character who just wants to be loved. He's learning to go for walks, and seems to enjoy the freedom of the walk. He also likes the backyard where he can get his zoomies out! He seems to enjoy his food as a treat. He's still learning to play with toys.

When on a good schedule, he’s very close to being house trained. He does where a belly and he has only pottied in it once. He gets to go outside every few hours and he usually goes. He does well in the crate at night but not sure how he would be during the day as he has not been crated during the day. Because he will not consistently go potty on a leash, he does need a fenced in yard. He does well on leash though and gets to walk daily. He is a work in progress and moving towards good leash walking. He does great with smaller dogs, but he has not yet met larger dogs or cats. He’d do well with another dog though as he really follows and watches the other dogs in his foster home.

Kimball has the cutest squishiest face ever. He will love to give you kisses with his squishy face once he gets to know you. It sounds like this sweetheart is ready to make a home his very own. Plan to meet him today. He’d love to meet you too!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
