Due to concern around COVID-19, Underdog Rescue is suspending all public adoption events and community events. We are still accepting applications for available dogs but are delaying in-person meet and greets due to the ‘stay at home’ policy. Thank you for your support. 

Hi to you. I’m Kenji- a 8 year old, 12lb Schnauzer. My foster mom says I am a good boy; I really want to trust you and I will come to you for petting. I am shy and will cower when I am approached though.  I actually barked once at the cat and I think I scared myself! She said I really don't interact with the other animals in the house yet, but I love to cuddle with the humans. I will sit in your lap as long as you let me. I may be shy now but my foster mom says I will be a pretty easy going guy if you allow me to learn that touch is okay. Oh, and I love doggy treats. I am not sure what I like to do yet, but I think I will like toys; I am a little interested in what those are, so we’ll see.

I am not yet house trained but am crate trained. I do freeze up on a leash and am fearful of new things, so a fenced in yard is a must. I never bark and do great with all dog friendly dogs. I really wants to come out of my shell. I will come for treats and come running when I hear my name.

Though I am shy on approach and will cower in the corner, if I come to you, I do not cower for pick up since it’s on my terms. I’m looking for my very best furever home that comes with patience and lots of love.  Will you be my hero?

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many my terms our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
