Hello.  I’m Nova.  I’m an adult Poole/Pomeranian mix.  Aren’t I beautiful?  I am a super sweet yet elegant lady.  I’m very curious about my new world and I love observing things.  I have some foster siblings and we love to explore the backyard.  There are plants and flowers in the back yard and my current favorite thing to do is to hide in there and wait for my foster mom to find me.  I’m learning a lot by watching and observing.

I’m a good eater too, but I have great house manners.  And, I’ve been great with learning to potty.  I love to cuddle with my foster siblings and I sometimes take naps with them.  I also like riding in the bike basket around the lake.  Sometimes I’m even carried in a sling pack while my foster mom visits art festivals and farmer’s markets.  That is really fun too.  I also like to join my foster dad on the sofa to watch TV.  There are a lot of good shows on right now, and season premiers are back so that makes it fun too!

When on a good schedule, I am close to being potty trained but am crate trained. I occasionally walk on a leash and am working on good leash manners. I am doing so well that I don’t need a fenced in yard. I am also learning lots of words:  ‘kennel’, a command word for ‘outside’, ‘go potty’, ‘pick up’, ‘upstairs’, ‘inside’ and ‘time for bed’. It’s that impressive?! I do well with smaller dogs but have not been with larger dogs, cats or kids. I’m pretty quiet too and will bark only when alarmed or at strangers outside of my foster home.

A loving family with patience to keep training me would be great and you will be delighted to have me!  At least that’s what my foster family says.  They say I’m just adorable and will make a great addition to a nice family.  My big beautiful eyes will melt your heart if they haven’t already!  I cannot wait to meet you!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
