Meet this amazing 11 year young, 10 lb Toy Poodle Zoey. She is a sweet loving little lady who is beginning to enjoy being in a home. She adores her foster mom and has become her shadow. Where Mom goes, Zoey goes!  She loves to cuddle and wants to be as close as possible to her foster mom. She loves her foster sibs too and will cuddle with them when her foster mom isn't close by, but she still prefers her foster mom.

She is nervous away from her foster home. Being places with lots of noise, people, and new things is scary for Zoey, but once she settles in and feels safe, her tail starts wagging.  Beside her foster mom, eating and snuggling are her favorites. She is working on losing her "baby weight" but gets very excited when it is breakfast or dinner time. She even does a little dance and bops foster mom in the leg just to let her know she's waiting! She hasn't figured out toys yet; however, she is curious then jumps when they squeak. She likes treats – just not green beans!  She probably knows that they are diet food!

When on a good schedule, Zoey is really close to being house trained but is crate trained. She is also working on leash walking and doing well enough that she won’t require a fenced in yard. She is learning what “night-night” means. She’s only ever been with small dogs, but she does well with them. She’s just as quiet as can be too and never barks.

Zoey is coming out of her shell more and more every day. Her personality is really beginning to shine. She surprises her foster mom every day with something new and she is a very smart little lady! See where she’ll be next and come to meet her for yourself!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
