Hi there!  I’m Jaiena.  I’m a 40 lb Pitbull mix.  I’m a fully grown adult, but don’t let that fool you because I can still be a silly little girl!  In fact, some of my favorite things are doing doggie burritos.  Do you know what those are?  Oh my goodness they are so very much fun!  What it is, is that you put a blanket down and then roll me all up in it so I’m nice and wrapped up!  It’s so awesome!  I also like belly rubs and love walks too!

I’m mostly a fun little couch potato who loves to give loads of sweet smooches.  I also love those little people too.  Oh, and my foster brother.  I love him a lot too.  We like to snuggle and sleep by each other every night.

Sometimes I get to go fun places and that is super-duper fun!  Those cars that you hoomans use are awesome!  I like to say hello to people I meet when I’m out on adventures.  Sometimes people might be scared of me but I instantly win them over with my awesomeness and my smile!

Since I’ve been in my foster home I’ve learned all about toys and stuff.  Did you know those yellow balls are really fun to play with?  I love all sorts of fun toys and hope we can play together.   I love me some treats!  Well, to be honest, I tend to love all food, but if you really want to do something fun for me, and I think you do, it’s a peanut butter Kong!  Holy moly those things should be illegal they are so pawsome!!

And, in my fun learning, I’ve already mastered things like “sit”, “down”, “kennel”, “off” (so I don’t jump on people and scare them—but really you can’t blame me- I just get so excited to say hello to everyone!).  Isn’t that cool?  Don’t believe that saying about dogs not learning new things as they get older.  I like to think we get smarter!

I am crate trained and potty trained, so that’s cool huh?  Although if I’m honest, and I think it’s important to be honest, I do tend to whine a bit when I’m put in the crate.  It’s mostly just because I like to be around my hoomans.  But once they remind me it’s only a little while, then I tend to settle down quite quickly.  I also never bark.  I also do not need a fenced in yard because guess what else?  My cool foster family is helping teach me the ways of the leash.

I haven't had much of a chance yet to meet other doggies. When I was first rescued, I had some reactivity towards other dogs when they would pass by my kennel but since being in my foster home, I've seen other dogs and haven't had any issues. I haven't had the chance to live with another dog though so I might need some lessons on that if you have another dog or I'd be perfectly happy as your only pet too!

Mostly you should know that I am a silly little love bug who will capture your heart if you let me!  I do have my spot on the couch, but as soon as you sit next to me, I’ll proudly reclaim my mostest favoritest most pawsome spot in the whole world—your lap!!!!  I just love to be wherever my hoomans are and like the girlie girl that I am, I also love playing dress up.  And don’t forget my doggie burrito game!!!!

So what do you say?  Who wouldn’t love a lovely little smoocher you can play burrito with?  I know you want to meet me! Don’t you?

Jaiena did test positive for heartworm when she was first rescued. She has gone through successful treatment and is ready for her forever home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
