Hello everyone! My name is Georgia and I am a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and I am 15 months old. I’m a big girl weighing just over 100 pounds.
I am a very friendly and social girl! I even love to smile at you even though my foster mom says that showing you all my teeth when I smile can be scary until you realize how happy and excited I am! My foster mom has even been working on getting me to smile on demand! I’m very motivated by food or treats so that helps! I’m very smart and even try using my smiling trick when I get in trouble for doing something my foster mom says I’m not supposed to! I have been very friendly with all of the new people and dogs I have met but so far I haven’t encountered any little kids or cats.
I walk quite well on a leash, but I don’t have good leash manners yet so I’m working on learning to pick a side and stay there! The good news is I’m not attached to one side so you can choose which side you want to train me to! I would love a fenced in yard to play freely in, but since I’m good on a leash that isn’t a requirement.
I love to play with my toys, especially the squeaky ones, but need some sturdy ones as I will pull the fur off of plushies! Speaking of toys, I’m also working on learning that not everything I can reach is appropriate for me to use as a chew toy so I probably shouldn’t be left unattended until I can figure this out! I’m a little mouthy, but my foster mom is trying to teach me that “mouth pets” as I like to call them, aren’t acceptable. I don’t really know why but she says humans don’t like that! Humans are weird!?
I’m learning to play with my foster sister who is a Great Dane. Sometimes she gets a little afraid of my loud barking when we play but it’s just another way I tell you how excited and happy I am! I would love to come live with you and play with any doggie siblings you already have, but am confident enough on my own that I’ll be fine getting all the pets and treats!
I’m a really brave girl and
I am really good of letting you know when strangers come to our property. My foster mom says I sound a little harsh so she’s trying to teach me that she got it handled and I can stand down after alerting her!
I am great in the kennel-even go in there voluntarily as long as you are willing to throw a treat into the back! I sometimes whine a couple times because I just want to spend my time with my people but I haven't any accidents! And my foster mom works long shifts which doesn’t bother me either! I am working very hard on my potty training! I’m really good at going potty outside every time my foster mom takes me out but haven’t quite figured out how to tell you I need to go out so it’s probably best if you keep me on a schedule until we can figure out a good warning system together!
I’m very affectionate and can’t wait to meet someone who wants all of this love I have! I’m hoping that it’s you!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
