Hi there! My name is York. You're probably here reading this because you saw how cute I am and wanted to know more. Well, let me tell you all about me!

I can be a bit bashful at first but that doesn't last too long. Once I know you I will follow you around and wag my tail all the time! When you look at me I will get ready for pets because you can never have too many pets! I love to run around and play with you or we can just snuggle on the couch. 

My foster mom says I will need a strong pack leader to help me learn that I don't need to growl or bark at people I don't know. I am nervous of new people and sometimes I worry they will hurt me so growling has been my response. I sometimes growl and bark at other dogs in my foster home too so someone has to help me learn that I am not the boss. It might take me a couple of days to trust you but once I do I promise to show you all the cute things I do to make foster mom laugh. My foster mom thinks with a little work and some socialization I will do well!

I like to paw the air in hopes you will give me a high five, or maybe just pick me up to cuddle. Sometimes I even use BOTH paws. Isn't that adorable?

I'm sure you will be happy to know that I am crate trained. Not only do I not go to the bathroom when I'm in the crate but I also don't make a peep! I just lay down and sleep soundly until morning or patiently wait for my foster mom to return to the house.
I am working on potty training and am doing pretty well but I still mark sometimes. I will probably grow out of it but for now my foster mom has me wear a belly band.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
