My name is Nigel.  What’s your name?  Do you think we should meet?  I think so..but wait, you probably want to know a little bit about me, huh?  Well here it goes!  I’m 7 years old and I weigh about 5 pounds.  Oh and I’m a Pomeranian.  I’ve been treated for heartworm and worms so once those get taken care of I should be all set!

I am a very sweet and loving boy.  Despite seeing lots of new things lately, I am not at all afraid!  I like cuddles and treats, especially the soft tiny kind of treats.  I also like to play stay/come on the bed!  The bed is so very soft!  Sometimes I feel like a king being allowed up there!  Have you heard of stay/come?  It’s super fun!  My foster mom puts me somewhere on the bed and holds me there.  Then she says “stay”.  Then she moves herself a little bit away and wiggles her fingers and then says “come” and I do!  I love it.  It is just so very fun!  Oh and the kissy sound—I like that too.  My foster mom makes the kissy sound when she says “come” and it is so very awesome!

I am great with people of all sizes even the little ones called kids.  I’m not quite potty trained yet, but I am on a schedule and am doing really well on that.  I’m also doing well in the crate too.  My foster mom puts me in there at night on the bed next to her.  Although sometimes I fuss a bit, but she puts her fingers in the holes of the crate and then scratches me and talks to me.  When she does that I fall asleep pretty quickly and I’m so good at sleeping!  I sleep all night long!

I’m doing some leash training and am doing really well.  So daily walkies will be great!  I like to just strut my stuff and look around and smell stuff, but I’m also learning that I can be directed while on the leash.  I do require a specific harness for walking on the leash because I am so tiny, but if you use the harness I do well.  Oh I’m also learning some human language.  For instance, I understand “go potty” and “stay” and “come”!  Isn’t that awesome?

Despite my tiny stature, my personality is big!  I like all dogs, even the big ones, well if they are friendly that is!  I don’t know about cats though, but only because I haven’t yet met any of them.  I’m sure they’d be fine too though.  It’s easy to like the big ones when you have a big personality like me!  I’m okay with other dogs in the house, but I don’t necessarily need to have that in my furever home so long as my humans are home most of the time.

Guess what else I found?  Go ahead—did you guess?  No?  Well, don’t worry I’ll tell you.  I found my voice!  Yup!  It is so cool to be able to talk and tell you stuff.  I like telling you stuff, especially if I feel like I’ve been left behind or forgotten about.  I will definitely bark to make sure you don’t forget about me, or to feed me!  Food is amazing.

Wow, that’s a lot about me, huh?  See, I told you I like to talk!  Anyway perhaps the most important thing you should know though is that I am an absolute cuddle bug.  In fact, if you could cuddle, pet, massage, scratch or snuggle with me 24/7 I’d be in heaven!   I’ve heard that snuggles and affection are actually very good for your health!  So I intend to do as much of that as is possible!  Do you need help with your health?  I’m here for the snuggling if you do!  Come on, what do you say????

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
