Good day people. My name is Gibs. I weigh about 5 pounds and as you can see from my very handsome (if I do say so myself) picture, I am a Yorkie. I am a bit mysterious so my foster parents don’t quite know how old I am, but I’m okay with that. Age is just a number after all isn’t it?
I tend to be a rather quiet and laid-back sort of fellow. In fact, I don’t really even bark. There isn’t much that really bothers me I guess. Plus, I’ve heard that patience is a virtue so I just go with that. I do like to curl up on the rug in front of the fireplace. That is a nice and cozy place to curl up and watch people (which I like to do) or to snooze. I also really like to chew on bully sticks. Some dogs play with these things called toys. I’m not quite sure about those yet, but I guess maybe I could give them a shot.
I am okay with being held, but only if you can catch me. New or loud things are a bit scary so sometimes I will run away, or just stand and watch to try and observe and learn about things. Who knew there was so much to learn in the world?!! One of the things I’m working on now is this thing called potty training. It is really hard work, but I’m a dedicated dude so I will keep at it and I know I’ll get the hang of it soon. My foster mom uses something called a belly band and that helps too. I have also learned to go up and down stairs, which can be very intimidating when you only weigh 5 pounds.
It’d be best if I had a fenced in yard since I have not quite yet learned the ways of the leash. I’m sure I will get the hang of it with practice though. Although I have been around smaller dogs, I am not sure if I would like to share my forever home with dogs or not. It’s hard to tell. Like I said, I can be timid so I’m just not sure. I also haven’t ever been around those children type people or cats.
If you’re up for a sophisticated, relaxed gentleman who likes to just chill and enjoy keeping watch over you then I am your perfect match! What do you say? Are you up for a meet and greet? Be careful though, because once you meet me you will love me!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
