Well, as you know, my name is Garth, a.k.a. Garthy McCarthy, and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself! I am young in body but everybody says I am an old soul. No idea what that means, maybe because I like to take things slow and appreciate all the amazingness of my new life? Who wouldn't want to do that?!
Some of the amazing things I found in my new life, hmm, where to start! I like me a soft bed, preferably two soft beds; one in the heart of the house where I can supervise my new family's activity and one where it's quiet. I'm not antisocial, I assure you, but a little downtime is nice. Just as my humans appreciate their vacation time, I appreciate my daily staycations!
I love anything I can eat, but certainly not your family heirlooms, as I have not a single tooth in my head. I am referred to as Mr. Prancy Pants when I hear anything I think has to do with my meal being prepared, thanks to my happy dinner dance that I can't control! Things that I can't eat and enjoy, e.g. toys, serve me no purpose, that I know of. Maybe your family's dog could explain that mystery to me? I'm working on taking a treat from someone's hand, right now I like it better when it's dropped on the floor in front of me. But I always look up my human with loving thankful eyes!
I walk like a rock star on a leash, parading loud and proud right next to the resident dog, who is also a little white fluffy. I like to check peemail though, which can make walks around the block take a long time. I have to check all my messages, it's tough being the neighborhood gossip! My foster mom is working on a command with me, "Not now", letting me know she's not in the mood for my method of communicating with my neighborhood buddies and it's time to just walk. She tells me when it's "OK to sniff" so then I know it's time to do my business. It's annoying, but I know she's just trying to help me learn how to control my impulse tweets and hold my bladder for more than half a block on our walks!
Depite all the schoolin' my foster mom is putting me through, I am still thrilled when she walks in the door, happy dance and all! Please fill out an application to adopt me so I can do my happy dance for you!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
