Hello all. I am Ranell. I am a shy, gentle, very loving young lady. I am all of 3 years old.  I absolutely love going for car rides and will wait patiently in the car until my foster mom is done with all her errands. I enjoy a game of tennis ball fetch, but I can be a little stubborn with the dropping part. I guess I need to work on that.  I adore my foster mom’s 3 yr old grandbaby and have superb manners around him. I just love all kids. I live with 2 mini doxies and an old boy German Shepard; I do very well with all the dogs. I am very sweet with the little dogs and give them plenty of kisses, but other than that I pretty much ignore them. I will allow them to cuddle with me in my crate though. I do relish cuddling in the people bed and my preference would be to sleep with you, but I will also go into my crate for the night if I must. I just really want to be close to my people.

I admit that I am not a fan of cold temps and don’t like to go outside to potty in that kind of weather. I am still working on my house training but am crate trained. In fact, I am very happy in my crate. When my foster mom is home she leaves the gate open so that I enter/exit as I please. I like to lie in my crate and watch all the activities from a distance. I can be a little hoarder though; if you can’t find something the first place to look is in my crate. I won’t chew the stuff, I just hide them. I’d rather chew on a good buffalo bone.

I get to walk daily on a leash and I am doing well. Once I have gone potty I will pull on leash to get back into the house so I need to work on that. I am doing well enough that I won’t need a fenced in yard. I am also working on commands such as: sit, stay and kennel.

Noise doesn’t bother me one bit and I am pretty quiet myself. I will bark only when my foster mom gets home and if she’s not quick enough getting my food ready. My tummy is hungry and I want my food so I will give some short “hurry up” barks, but I will stop when I am told.

I can be frightened of new things and experiences so it will take a person that can gently guide me through experiences and work at my pace. I know that I will make a fantastic addition to any family that has plenty of time to spend with me and is willing to take me along on outings. I don’t have a mean bone in my body. Who is ready to take me on the journey of a lifetime?

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
