Hello, I am O'Keefe, an adorable and fluffy Shih Tzu. I am 7 years old and looking for my furever home.

I’m a master napper and love to share my bed with other dogs. I do not understand personal space though. All dogs are pillows don’t you know! I will settle down for a deep cuddle when you pick me up. I adore food and am very food motivated. I have not yet figured out toys and hard toys are a definite no no due to a few missing teeth, but I sure love to slobber all over bully sticks!!

Each day I learn more and more! I am working on commands for ‘wait’, ‘leave it’, ‘outside’ , ‘inside’ and know to ‘stay’. I am comfortable with the leash and harness, but I still freeze and am less likely to pee so I’m a work in progress. Because of this I do need a fenced in yard in my furever home. I am a dog follower and imitate my doggie friends by following them outside to go potty, but I have not mastered this skill yet. I still mark a bit so house training is a work in progress too.

I'm great with ALL dogs and will also need a furry friend in furever home. Since I am shy, another dog will help to teach me how to be the confident, cuddly dog I know I can be. I'm also good with cats, so no need to worry if you have a cat already; I'm always respectful. I would do best in a home without young children; however, I do really well with older children.

I’m a lovable little goof who is learning the “appropriate” ways to get attention – i.e. not barking, but right now I have a tendency to bark when I want attention or out of boredom. I will bark when my foster mom comes home. I am quiet during the day though as there isn’t anyone to talk to.

So my education is in full swing and with a little TLC, I am sure I can be the best dog! I've made a lot of progress already and have lots of love to give.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
