I am Mr. Gerald or Gerry as some of my friends call me. I am about 9 years young. I am one of the sweetest and happiest pups you will ever meet and I live to please! Every morning I greet my foster mom with kisses and love. At night, I like to curl up next to her on the couch. I had no idea life could be this good! You could call me a velcro dog, because I sure do like to say next to my hooman's side.
Ideally, I would love a family/owner who can spend a lot of time with me. I am not a fan of being alone for long periods of time and will bark or cry and sometimes have accidents, particularly if I'm in a crate. I'm not a fan of those either. I just love my people so much!
When I take a break from showing the my hoomans love, I enjoy walks and do very well. I simply love my walks! I really like to greet people along the way, too. I am now a neighborhood favorite among the kids who live near me. They pet me and I show them how patient I am with every person I meet.
I enjoy sleeping under my foster mom's desk during the day when she works. And if you have a bully stick or “cookies” from Natural Balance (they are my favorite!) to spare, I would love that! I have learned the commands down, wait and I know to go outside when instructed.
I am working really hard on my potty training and am making progress. I am still learning, so I wear a belly band when I'm alone at home or at night. This is a little band that goes around my waist that collects my potty accidents. Oops!
I do love to be around other dogs when I’m out and about, but when another dog is on my home turf I can be protective. My foster mom is helping me work on being more at ease in those situations.
I am such a sweet boy looking for a home that will love me unconditionally and give me a good life. In return, I will give you enough love that you will cherish for a lifetime!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
