I am Sam and and I am about a year old and 7 pounds. They call me Sammy Sam Sam and I am a little man full of energy. If I am awake, I am moving!

I am very social and always interested in what everyone is doing. The more I can see in my surroundings the better! I have a puppy heart and am very happy and playful. I like to play with the other dogs and am respectful towards the ones who don't. New challenges are awesome. Like this one time, I jumped head first into a pile of snow. I didn't even know what I was doing. I also play wrestle mania with my humans. Life is awesome!!!!!

Treats like bully sticks and pig ears are very tasty. And toys are even better! The stuffed and squeaky toys are my favorites and I enjoy games of fetch. A LOT. My foster mom thinks I would love a hobby, like agility training. I am very smart and energetic and would love to put my smarts to good use.

I am already potty trained and do great on a schedule. We go on walks sometimes and those are a lot of fun! We are working on some simple commands, which I obviously already picked up on. I am very food motivated and submissive, so it's very easy to train me. I haven't met cats yet, but they think I will do well with them.

Clearly, I am a gem! The only thing I need to work on is sometimes I bark a little when my humans leave or if I am in my crate. I give up quickly and go to sleep after 5 minutes or so. It's probably best I don't live somewhere with shared walls, or perhaps we can work on this a little together. Either way, know that I am AMAZING and will make you so happy!!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
