I am Miss Katie and I am new to rescue. I am a fun poodle mix, about 1 year old and 7 pounds.
Let me tell you about myself! I am learning that I am a puppy and it is so fun! I am a darling little lady who is constantly interested in the world around me. I love food and toys and love to get the puppy zoomies! You can find me tearing around the house with my contagious puppy energy. I like to chase a ball and will even climb into the toy box to take every toy out. Each one needs to be carefully inspected and I am the dog to do it! And the more I can put into my mouth, the better!
I like to play with my brother and sometimes even dominate him. Really, I just want him to play with me! They say I am quite a character. I am lightening fast and will race up and down the stairs for fun.
When I first meet new people, I am a shy/fearful and will bark, growl or hide, but I am learning people are safe! I also bark at my reflection in the patio door window. I'm just really trying to figure everything out! Right now, I go to work with my foster mom and this is helping me get socialized with different people and situations. After a long day at work, I like to snuggle with everyone in my foster mom's big chair and give little kisses when least expected.
When we go outside, I try to go to the bathroom like the other dogs. I am getting better every day. I try to use the potty pads in the house as well. Since I am still a puppy, I need some patience. I have a lot of energy and my family is working on teaching me how to be a good little puppy. I pull a lot on my leash right now - I just want to run and see everything! It's wonderful to be free and I want to embrace every minute!
I would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day and I have another small canine companion to help me with my confidence (bigger dogs scare me). If you can provide me with a lot of direction and patience, we may be a good match! I am super cute, that won't even care how much work we put in together every day. What do you think, are you in!?
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
