Paws

I am Miss Abree and I am new to rescue. I am about 2 years old and 13 pounds. I am a happy girl who loves everyone!

Right now, I am a city pup and know how to navigate an elevator in the apartment building where I currently live. I don't know how to press the buttons, but I do know elevator etiquette! Praise is my best teacher. Praise me for doing a good job at something and I will do it again and again and again! We are working on sit, stay, down, slow (for walks), and jumping in and out of the car. Are you impressed yet?!

Guess what!? I am already potty trained! I even learned how to walk on a leash quickly, making me a doggy rock star! My energy and spirit comes alive when I am outside and I love the freedom I have been gifted. Exploring the outdoors is awesome and I could walk all over town with you every day! I act like a young pup and am ready to have all the adventures I have missed.

I am a little shy when I meet new folks and am  still learning the ropes of this dog life. After being in a commercial breeding facility for most my life, it is strange and sometimes scary to hear so many new sounds. Like many dogs before me, I will eventually adjust.

I am not quite ready for kids, but other dogs cats are just fine and dandy if they are in my forever home An owner  who will let me make them happy is all that I ask for in this life. And a snuggle companion. Maybe that person is you!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
