My name is Octavia and I am new to rescue. I am about 2 years old and 6 pounds.

I am a very friendly and sweet pup. I like to give my humans kisses and wag my tail when someone talks to me.  My favorite place is under a blanket on the couch. It is so nice to have a warm and safe spot to snuggle in during the day and in the evening.

A family who will supply me with an array of sweaters and jackets would be ideal! I don't have much hair and I hear these Minnesota winters can get cold. I already am shivering with this fall weather, so feel free to dress me up in warm layers however you see fit. Also, feel free to turn me into a fashionista if you'd like, I won't resist.

I do have somewhat of a bubble with other dogs and like my space. I might be a little sassafrass, so a home without small children would be ideal. I could definitely be an only dog, or if you have an independent dog who does their own thing, that could work too! I have been known to try and play with cats before, yet leave dogs alone. I am a silly girl.

Once I am bonded to my human, I am yours furever! Especially if you have treats. I am very energetic and am sometimes an escape artist. Wiggling out of my harnesses is on my list of accomplishments and I even jumped over a baby gate once. I will go into my crate easily and am quiet, at night and when you are gone for the day. I am not potty trained yet, but working on it every day! 

I promise to never let you get bored and to love you to the moon and back. Whaddya say?!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
