Paws

Hello, friend. My name is Kirk. I am 2 years old and weigh 8 pounds.

I am new to rescue and learning how to be a dog so fast! I already started walking on a leash and am doing better every day. My foster mom says I am a very smart pup. I think I have a big brain!

I am quite shy right now and want to trust everyone and everything around me, but it is all so new. Can you imagine all of a sudden being somewhere with things and people you have never seen before!? It can be overwhelming, yet exciting at the same time. I even live with a parrot, which I have never seen before! I just ignore it.

I discovered that I enjoy the company of other pups and already have found other things I like. My night time bed is amazing and I LOVE it the most. It is six tall inches of memory foam and faux fur. Snuggling in that is the best. I really am living the high life now! I also love the backyard. Have you ever seen a Jack Russell run?! It is the cutest – maybe I can show you sometime.

I am using my bravery to get me through each day and I don’t let my fears stop me from exploring the world and loving my foster family. I even started giving my foster mom kisses – I am such a sweetie. If you think you would like to hold my paw through this thing they call a dog’s life, I would love nothing more than to give you my paw and my whole heart.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
