Hello everyone! I am Bentley, a dachshund beagle mix. I weigh about 15 pounds and still plan to grow just a little bit more!

I love bones and like to lie on you while I chew them, because it's like I am sharing them with you! I enjoy playing with the resident dogs a lot and love adventures in the car. Quite frankly, I just love to spend time with my people that I even want to sleep with them and would really like it if I could sleep under the covers. I am also fine in my kennel, but I prefer your bed. Did I mention that I am crate and house trained, too? Yippee!

My foster mom says I am really smart and learn fast. I know the words come, sit, down, leave it, quiet and how to go outside. I am good on the leash and in the beginning of walks I pull some, but with a little correction, I am a rock star. I have a lot of energy and would benefit from daily walks or chasing a ball in the fenced back yard. My recall is very good, unless I see a critter. When I do bring a toy back, I am still working on the drop part. I like to carry a ball in my mouth so much that when my foster mom throws the ball for her dog, I will follow along with him, still carrying my ball in my mouth. I'm so silly!

I have hound in me, so when I see something I run after it, such as small critters including cats. However, she says I am getting better with cats. I have been known to chase and bark if one runs. I even let them rub up against me sometimes and don’t even care. For now, it's best that I don't go to a home with cats.

I should let you know that sometimes I guard my food. I like to eat and really don't want anyone else near my food bowl. I am working really hard on this and I will need continued obedience training. When you haven't had the opportunity to have good meals for most your life, you want to keep the good you have! My foster mom says I will steal your heart regardless, so I need to have an strong pack leader so I don't take advantage of anyone.

When I am in the house, I like to bark at anything that moves outside the house so we are working on being quiet. When I am outside, I don't bark much unless one of the other dogs bark. I am really great with all dogs, so if you’re gone a lot I need another dog to help keep me busy. If you are home most of the time, I probably don't need a canine pal.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
